!!! WE ARE PUTTING OUT A CALL TO ALL HANDS ON THE MOD !!!

!!! WE NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU ASAP !!!

Either send an email to the usual place or jump on the #df2mod channel on Efnet. If nobody is responding, type a message in the channel anyway as we’ll see it. The ball is rolling, we need you to help give some velocity to that sucker! :-)

Just a quick note to let you know that the nuking of the forums on FreeForumHost was quite intentional. Spambots were out of control, and we didn’t like the ads. It was a good idea, but poorly executed. New forums are coming, we just need to get the look right. Also, users will have to be validated by hand so that should put an end to the spam.

Just a quick update let you all know that we’re not dead yet. ;-) In the middle of everything that life throws at you, little things like this slip under the radar. :-P At any rate, we’re working on some changes and hope to have something to tell you fine people in the near future. And not a year from now either. ;-)

April 26, 2007

We’re back! After fighting with no broadband and dialup (Oh, the humanity!) for over a month and a half, Shamus has finally gotten high speed internet at his new house (otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to read this)! In other news, the mod is still quietly advancing as the team is still hard at work—in their spare time, that is. :-) Other than that, there are no earthshattering announcements at this time. Stay tuned. ;-)

February 13, 2007

FreeForumHost went down over the last month or so, and took our forums with it. Bastards. We’re looking into a suitable replacement for them at the moment—they will be back in some form. In the meantime, we’re slowly but surely working our way towards a demo release in the not-to-distant future (yeah, yeah, it’s only been two years). Stay tuned!

In other news, Shamus is moving and taking the server with him on or around the 20th of February, so the website will be disappearing for a while. He’s hoping it won’t take more than a month (there is no DSL where he’s going) but it will return!

November 19, 2006

Things are still progressing, slowly but surely. If you want the mod faster, feel free to pay us so that we can work on it full time. ;-) In the meantime, we have more screenshots up with more great work by DarkStarMojo. Enjoy!

May 22, 2006

It only took two years, but we finally have our own forums on Free Forum Host! If you’ve been following closely, then you already know they’re at http://df2mod.freeforumhost.com. We look forward to seeing you there!

May 15, 2006

Even though nothing has been posted here for a while the team continues to make steady progress on the mod. Work is still progressing on 01narshadda, 11gorc, and 06bbarons, as well as progress on various models. A few new screenshots are up showing 11gorc. We’ll post some screens of 06bbarons as soon as our texture artists redo some of the textures for that level. ;-)

March 22, 2006

The mod progresses along steadily, and just to prove it we’ve put up some fantastic new screenshots of DarkStarMojo’s incredible recreation of Nar Shaddaa. More to come…

December 25, 2005

The DF2Mod Team wishes you all a Merry Christmas, and, in the spirit of the season, we offer all of you the following gift: An MP mod based on DF2’s Yun level (9,388,539 bytes). We also would like to encourage you to mirror it far and wide, since the bandwidth for ShamusWorld only goes so far. ;-) Enjoy!

December 1, 2005

Even with precious little free time for our Fearless Leader, lots has been happening behind his back—err, behind the scenes. ;-) For example, we’ve teamed up with the Shadows of the Empire Mod and added new members! Welcome to Guy_Gone_Weird, who will be helping with skinning, modeling and the ever-important job of texture recreation. We also have three other people that we are happy to welcome to the mod: Zemmurk Trooper, Recon Trooper, and Galvatron Trooper (notice a trend here? ;-). They will be helping with mapping as well as skinning and modeling.

DarkStarMojo has also been working on a very small side project—watch this space for further details. :-)

September 29, 2005

A couple new pages have gone live, just to whet your appetite. ;-) We’ve been toying with the idea of puting the reference maps up on the website in a similar fashion to our texture page so that those of you who want to try their hand at recreating a map can do so. Watch this space for updates. :-)

September 4, 2005

A new FAQ has gone up, since it seems like people keep asking us the same questions over and over again. ;-) Many thanks go out to DarkStarMojo for putting it together on short notice! And once Shamus gets his act together, we’ll have some nice new screenshots for you to look at. :-)

May 2, 2005

Some of the more observant of you probably noticed some server downtime followed by some page glitches—the server that hosts the mod had to be taken down for some emergency maintenance but all the kinks should be worked out by now. Other than that, the mod has continued to chug along with some really nice texture work by DarkStarMojo and sariimi. I’m hoping to have some updated screenshots up in the near future so you can see what’s happening on that front.

To those that have sent mail to the df2modtryouts address, I apologize for not replying sooner (I realize that it’s been almost a month!). I ask you all yet again for patience—I promise I will get back to you!

March 1, 2005

If you’ve been following the mod closely over the last few months, you would have noticed quite a few high quality textures (in addition to those made by sariimi) being added to the 01narshadda texture page. Many of those were done by the DF2 Mod Team’s latest member: DarkStarMojo. He along with sariimi have been contributing the bulk of the recreated textures. There have been a few others who have made contributions and I haven’t had time to respond to them yet. To them I say: Please be patient. I’ll get back to you eventually. ;-)

Also, the preliminary mod has been released to the team members, mainly so that they can get an idea of how their work will look in context. ;-)

November 14, 2004

No, the mod isn’t disbanding, it’s just that the fearless leader’s wife gave birth to their first child yesterday morning. :-D Mom, dad & son are all doing fine in spite of minimal energy and sleep. Needless to say, updates in the near future may suffer as a result. ;-)

November 4, 2004

For those of you budding artists out there, I’ve added some artistic guidelines to help you make your recreations the best they can be. At the moment it has what I consider to be crucial items; in the near future it will be more fully fleshed out (I have to ask permission from some of our contributors as to whether or not I can use their attempts as case studies).

October 20, 2004

If you’ve been paying attention to the textures page, you may have noticed some very high quality textures being posted in the past few days. Those textures, for the most part, were created by sariimi who is the latest member to join the DF2 Mod team. We’ve also seen some very good contributions from Locutus of Borg (also posted to the textures page) and look forward to seeing more from him.

I’m planning on putting the other levels’ textures up soon, so if Nar Shadda isn’t your cup of tea, you can work on something else. ;-) Again, you don’t have to be a member of the team in order to contribute, so if you’ve got the goods, dive in!

October 16, 2004

OK, we’re going to try a little experiment here. You may or may not have noticed the links near the top of the page, but I’ve put in a preliminary texture page so that you can see what we’ve been up to. This also gives you a chance to participate, if you so desire. Note that if a texture already has a recreation and you think you can do better, feel free. Otherwise, we have plenty of other textures that aren’t being worked on. ;-)

October 13, 2004

The DF2 Mod Team would like to welcome Gringlas to the team! Gringlas will be helping with the (seemingly) neverending task of texture recreation.

I’ve been toying with the idea of opening up the development of the mod a bit more as well, by making the texture assets available through the web so anyone who wants to try their hand at texture recreation can do so. There may even be a rating system put in so that votes can be cast as to whether or not the recreated texture is up to snuff (members of the mod team would get the final say). But at the moment, this is just me thinking out loud. ;-) All I can say at this point is stay tuned!

September 28, 2004

Two updates in the space of four days? Are we insane? Maybe… ;-) Actually this is to let those of you who have expressed interest in helping the mod that we’ve set up an address for you to send your artwork to: df2modtryouts [at] yahoo [dot] com. Send us an example or two of your very best work and we’ll let you know whether or not you make the grade. :-)

Again, to those who we have contacted, please be patient—we’ll get back to you eventually!

September 25, 2004

The mod is still moving ahead, though slowly lately. This is due to the fact that most of the team members have day jobs that severly limit what they can do during the week. ;-) The mapping front has become a bit stalled due to the fact that the latest version of GTKRadiant doesn’t properly support brush primitives—and we need those brush primitives to work properly! Fortunately, Shamus has been working with the developers towards fixing that particular problem.

To those of you who have expressed interest in helping the mod with modeling, texturing and mapping, please be patient. You will be contacted eventually!

We’re hoping to be able to report some better progress fairly soon, but we’re making no promises at this point. As to why, well, life has a way of circumventing even the best laid plans. ;-)

August 23, 2004

By popular request, I have added this section to keep you informed of what the team is up to. Recently we have added Scythe to the DF2 MOD team, who will be working on texture recreation and modeling. Other than that, the mod is slowly but steadily moving forward. We hope to have a demo of the first level available in the not-too-distant future, but we’re not making any promises at this point!

Quality takes time and we want the DF2 MOD to be the best we can make it. That’s our excuse, and we’re sticking to it. ;-)
