   3   When recording, it is important that performers hear themselves, and any
   4   pre-recorded tracks they are performing with.

   7   Audio recorders typically allow <dfn>monitoring</dfn> (i.e. listening to)
   8   the input signal of all tracks that are armed for recording, and playing
   9   back the unarmed tracks.

  13         to provide separate monitor mixes for each performer.
