   7   It is very useful to be able to tag different locations in a session for
   8   later use when editing and mixing. Ardour supports both
   9   <dfn>locations</dfn>, which define specific positions in time,
  10   and <dfn>ranges</dfn> which define a start and end position in time.

  13   In addition to the standard location markers, there are three kinds of
  14   special markers:

  17   <li>
  18     <dfn>CD markers</dfn> are locations that are restricted to legal
  19     <dfn>CD sector boundaries</dfn>. They can be used to add track index
  20     markers to compact disc images.
  21   </li>
  22   <li>
  23     The <dfn>Loop range</dfn> defines the start end end points for Looping.
  24   </li>
  25   <li>
  26     The <dfn>punch range</dfn> defines the in and out points for punch
  27     recording.
